How to Make German Chocolate Cheesecake Squares


Hmmmmm this is a keeper and will be loved by everyone who gets a sweet tooth from time to time. I am not one for baking but this one seems to come out good every time. Be sure to read my helping tips at the end.

German Chocolate Cheesecake Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces of flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 box of German chocolate3b5b64e2cb03f4c9ca8d492f9154d8164a7d3d609129a9296bf7ac0608c2097
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 8 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pound of confectioners’ sugar
  • ½ cup butter or margarine, melted

How to Make German Chocolate Cheesecake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease a large baking pan
  3. Sprinkle the coconut flakes evenly on the bottom of the pan
  4. Layer the coconut with the chopped pecans
  5. Prepare the cake mix by following the directions on the package
  6. Pour the batter over the coconut and pecans
  7. Combine the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, milk, and butter in a bowl
  8. Beat with an electric beater on medium speed for about two minutes
  9. Drop cheese mixture by tablespoonfuls about one inch apart on the batter
  10. Bake for about 45 minutes, check by inserting a toothpick and it should come out clean
  11. Once it has cooled, cut into 15 squares

This is a delightful treat and will be requested often. A few tips to make it easier. You can soften the cream cheese in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Not that this is not sweet enough, but you can drizzle some caramel sauce on top of the squares. If you are using some coconut flakes that have been stored up for awhile and you think they are too dry, all you have to do is soak them in some milk for about 30 minutes. Drain them and dry them on paper towels and now your coconut has miraculously come back to life. Enjoy.
